The Beat Goes on! Experience an intimate festival filled with poetry readings and painting improvisation set to the rhythm of live jazz. Hosted by the Cultural Action Committee, this is a unique opportunity for attendees to experience exclusive performances, a thorough collection of Beat art, and later meet firsthand with the world-renowned poets, jazz musicians, and painters of the Beat Generation.
This 8th annual event is the premier collaborative conference in the region. On Friday October 8th there will be film screening of work by Stan Brakage, Jess Collins and Bruce Conner along a with a panel discussion with poet, David Meltzer, filmmaker Craig Baldwin, and artist Mary Fuller McChesney. On Saturday October 9th, jazz musicians, accompanied by live painters and beat poets, will perform on two alternating stages for a day of non-stop jazz. Some performers include and the Davis High School Jazz Band, Rio Americano High School Jazz Band, Boco do Rio, Brubeck Institute Quintet with a reading by poet Michael McClure backed by keyboardist, Ray Manzarek, of The Doors.

Farm Fresh to You and Capay Organic welcome the public to a farm tour and Halloween pumpkin giveaway. Visitors will be able to pick their own pumpkins for free (while supplies last), and those who wish can enter a pumpkin-carving contest. The company has a tour tram pulled by a tractor that will take visitors around the farm to a harvest area where they can pick some organic vegetables for free.
Kids will be able to do a craft and families can picnic at tables and listen to live music from The Pleasant Valley Boys of Winters. Produce from the farm will also be sold.
Admission is free. Tractor rides are $3 for adults and $1 for children.
The farm is located 90 miles west of San Francisco and 30 minutes west of Sacramento.

―Acme Theatre Co, an independent community theatre group of high school aged kids, presents: Wanyama: A Collection of Folktales. This collection consists of traditional African folktales, "Why Mosquitoes Buzz in People's Ears" and "Anansi the Spider,’’ and an adaptation of Rudyard Kipling's African- based story of "How the Camel got its Hump".
Children's International Storytelling Programs, designed for children of all ages (with accompanying adult), are held one Sunday afternoon per month (except in December, June, July and August) in the Community Room of the International House. Doors open at 1:45 pm. There is no charge for I-House members. The suggested donation for non-members is $2 per person or $5 per family.

The Crocker's Grand Opening will celebrate Sacramento's arts community at large, with participation by local and regional arts organizations and artists. Highlights of the day include performance by the Sacramento Youth Jazz Band, Symphony and Choir; Salsa, Indian, Mexican African and Irish dance and music; ArtCar Fest - 2010, the West Coast's largest gathering of art cars; and a 9:30 PM Laser Light Show to conclude the day's festivities.
