Children's Book Festival at Fairytale Town

Fairytale Town celebrates literacy with this two day festival, thanks to generous support from ScholarShare College Savings Plan, guests receive FREE ADMISSION both days! Activities include author and illustrator presentations on the Mother Goose Stage, a wide array of hands on literacy activities provided by several local arts organizations, one of the most popular weekends of the year. Puppet Art Theater will be performing The Three Billy Goats Gruff in the Children's Theater. Tickets are $1 for members and $2 for nonmembers.

Sacramento Zoo: Animal Enrichment Day
10am to 2pm

The Sacramento Zoo’s American Association of Zookeepers, Greater Sacramnto AAZK, will be hosting an enrichment day! It is an opportunity for the visitors to purchase pre-made enrichment items for animals throughout the zoo, and the guests get to watch as the animal eats, plays with, or destroys that item right then.

Costumed docents take you on a unique tour under the streets of Sacramento. In the 1860's, Sacramento was one of the very first cities in the nation to raise its streets (in an effort to proect against devastating floods). View disappearing windows and doors, exposed retaining walls, hollow sidewalks, dipping alleys and tour historic buildings. You'll never look at Sacramento the same again!

Discovery Museum Science and Space Center in Sacramento
Learn to identify trees using the museum's Nature Trail guide. The wide, smooth path around the pond is ideal for toddlers, stroolers and wheelchairs. Look for turtles, view the changing leaf colors and welcome the fall season with the family. Children can make a leaf print banner craft too.

Matt & George and their Pleasant Valley Boys play traditional bluegrass from 1947 and before. Matt & George and their Pleasant Valley Boys perform “Heavy Traffic Ahead” (backed with “I Hear a Sweet Voice Calling”) on 10" vinyl, at 78 RPM.

Mustard Seed Spin: American River Bike Ride

William B. Pond Recreation Area on the American River Parkway in Sacramento
Kids ride for kids! Get your family off the couch and onto the beautiful American River Bike Trail, where entry fees from the 13 to 20 mile bike routes are donated to the Mustard Seed School for homeless children. All riders receive a t-shirt, and there will be a silent auction and bike raffle. Ages 8-18 may ride alone, children younger than 8 ride with a parent.
